Fashion Personal Color Draping | COCORY Personal Color Curator Class 3

Class 3 of the COCORY Personal Color Curator Course with Phương Anh focused on the practical process of fashion personal color draping.

After learning the fundamentals of color and personal color theory in Class 1 and working with CUBE skin measurement and data analysis in Class 2, this session moved into fashion.

Phương Anh learned how to check and analyze a client’s characteristics, compare seasons and tones, and use different draping tools throughout the analysis.

Building a Fashion Personal Color Result

At COCORY, fashion personal color analysis does not begin and end with assigning one tone to a client.

The process starts by checking the client’s characteristics and comparing different seasons and tones. From there, the options are narrowed down to identify the client’s best tone.

Colors within that best tone are then compared in greater detail to select three best colors.

We also identify three season tones that give the client more options for different occasions and places.

Different draping tools support each part of this process, including draping paper, striped draping fabrics, and solid-color drapes.

Draping Paper | Quick Tone Comparisons

Draping paper is useful during the first stage of draping because it allows different tones to be compared quickly.

After reviewing the client’s characteristics, the curator can compare seasons and tones and begin narrowing down the strongest directions.

Portability is another practical advantage.

For off-site sessions or group programs, carrying a complete collection of fabric drapes can be heavy. Draping paper provides a lighter option when mobility is important.

In professional training, understanding a tool therefore includes not only how to use it, but also when it can be useful in an actual coaching environment.

Striped Draping Fabrics | Comparing Three Strong Tones

After the first comparison, COCORY uses striped draping fabrics for the second stage of draping.

At this point, three tones that work particularly well for the client can be compared together.

Each striped drape presents several colors within the same tone, making the overall character of the tone easier to see.

This also gives the client a clear visual comparison, helping them understand the differences between their strongest tone options at a glance.

Solid-Color Draping Fabrics | Finding Three Best Colors

Once the client’s best tone has been identified, solid-color drapes allow the analysis to become more specific.

COCORY’s solid-color draping tools allow 10 individual colors within one tone to be compared.

Even when colors belong to the same tone, they do not necessarily create exactly the same effect on the client.

By comparing the individual colors, the curator can select three best colors within the client’s best tone, providing more specific guidance that can be applied when choosing clothing.

Expanding Beyond One Best Tone

The best tone provides the client’s strongest color direction, but real wardrobes need more flexibility.

Colors may serve different purposes depending on whether the client is dressing for everyday life, work, a social occasion, or a special event.

For this reason, COCORY also identifies three seasonal tones that can be used across different occasions and places.

The purpose is not to limit personal color to a single answer, but to give the client a practical range of colors built around their strongest direction.

Achromatic and Suit Colors

Fashion personal color analysis also includes colors that are frequently used in everyday and professional wardrobes.

COCORY uses achromatic draping tools in five different lightness levels to compare which level works well for the client.

Grayed solid-color fabrics can also be used to explore suit colors.

For clients who frequently wear suits or need formal styling, this makes it possible to connect personal color results with the colors they actually wear in professional settings.

Connecting Draping Results to Real Fashion

For Phương Anh, Class 3 was not simply about learning how to handle different draping tools.

The class followed the process of client element analysis → season and tone comparison → best tone → three best colors within the best tone → three seasonal tones for different occasions and places.

By working with draping paper, striped draping fabrics, solid-color draping fabrics, achromatic colors, and grayed colors, she learned how different tools can support the analysis and how the final results can be translated into practical fashion choices for a client.

The COCORY Personal Color Curator Course is designed for students and beauty professionals who want to learn a structured approach to personal color, from theory and measurement to practical analysis and professional tool application.
